SH2 284 Diffuse Nebula

SH2 284 Diffuse Nebula

SH2-284 is a very dim emission nebula in the constellation
Monoceros. At the center is a small star
cluster formed from the gas of this ancient molecular cloud. This image was taken using elemental filters
and took a bit of processing in order to coax it out of the mud. At the right center of the image is the star
cluster NGC 2301. NGC 2301 is about 3000
light years distant.
