Perseus widefield

Perseus widefield astrotrac DSLR

Perseus widefield

This image was taken from a dark site in Suffolk on the night of 13 October 2012.

It was taken with a Canon 40D modified DSLR mounted on an astrotrac and through a Canon 24-105mm lens set on 24mm at f4 and iso 800.

There are 12 x 5min subs giving a total exposure time of 60 minutes. These subs, together with darks and flats were combined in Deep Sky Stacker and processed in Photoshop CS2.

Thats a really lovely wide-field shot and I like the annotated version too.

One of my projects next year will be to build a homemade 2x arm barn door tracker, inspired by these shots...
