M94 LRGB


M94   LRGB

M94 (or NGC 4736) is a spiral galaxy approximately 16 million light-years in Canes Venatici. M94 contains and inner and outer ring.

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours

Imaged December 26th and 27th, 2013 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.

I also imaged the area on December 26th with a Canon T2i with an f/3.5 50mm lens. The result of 59x120s exposures is an image approximately 20 x 16.5 degrees. M94 is to the right of center. Other objects include:

M51 - bottom left
M63 - up from the bottom left
M106 - top left
NGC 4244 - edge on near the top right
NGC 4214 - top right
NGC 4395 - below 4214
NGC 4631 + 27 / 4656 - Whale and Hockey Stick - below 4395
