B221 Pal 2 LRGB

Barnard 221 is a ¾ degree dark nebula located in Auriga.

The small globular cluster at the bottom left is Palomar 2. It was one of fifteen discovered from the plates of the first Palomar Observatory Sky Survey. This one is approximately 90,000 light-years away. This is actually one of the ‘better’ Palomar clusters.

Luminance – 20x600s – 200 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

320 minutes total exposure – 5 hours 20 minutes

Imaged from Dardenne Prairie, Missouri (a red zone) on November 27th, 2013 with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90DT at f/6.7 603mm. It was a terrible night with a lot of clouds.
