A glitch has appeared with my mount . . .

Everything running as normal , tracking beautifully , then after 4-5 minutes the RA tracking stops . . . ?

Can adjust DEC as the image drifts across the screen but RA buttons are unresponsive.

Turned it off and restarted and everything fine again , for about 4-5 minutes when it reoccured . . . !

Happens whether running off the powertank or the mains supply . . .

Any suggestions gratefully received . . .  :)

Did it happen after an upgrade of the firmware? Maybe reversing the process might cure it!

Other than that I can't help further. I hope you find a solution soon.

Regards

Neil.

I've never bothered with firmware upgrades , too much faffing about for very little gain , just another 5000 objects that I can't see . . .

I've heard of all sorts of faults but this is the first time I've heard of this one. Does the mount sound the same? Does the RA axis swivel freely with the clutch off? Just in case its synscan related it might be worth trying either resetting the Synscan controller (I think you hold down 0 and 9 at the same time but not sure?) or performing a firmware update. The reason I say this is because I've had a faulty controller and did lots of research trying to sort it out and in doing so came across all sorts of weird problems that a firmware upgrade strangely seemed to rectify? it didn't with mine but its worth a shot.

All sorted , hopefully . . .  :D

Coincidental failure of the mains power unit and the powertank past it's best . . .

The powertank was dropping to 10.6 volts after 30 mins from full , generally only runs the EQ3-2 at 6v so never noticed the drop-off before.

Quick trip to Maplins , new 12v - 4A PS for £24.99 . . .

Completed 1 hr Solar session with no surprises . . .
